Alder Gulch, Colorado · 9,200 feet

Eight rooms. One porch.
The whole valley.

A restored 1893 Victorian two blocks from Main Street, with homemade breakfasts, aspens out every window and absolutely no hurry.

Welcome

Built for an assayer. Kept for you.

The house was built in 1893 for the town’s silver assayer and his six children. We found it in 2014 with a sagging porch and a lot of character, and spent two years bringing it back.

Today it’s eight guest rooms, a parlor with a wood stove, a library of trail maps and paperbacks, and a porch that faces the best sunset in the valley. We live on site and we’ll happily point you to our favorite trailhead, or leave you entirely alone.

Worth getting up for.

Two courses, cooked to order by Claire, served in the dining room or out on the porch. Bread is baked here every morning; eggs come from a farm down the valley.
